A review of existing literature on colour was undertaken as part of the preparation of a report for Auckland City Council during the review of the Hauraki Gulf Islands District Plan. Hudson Associates also undertook field work to determine the appropriate colours for application within the Gulf Islands , and related the results to the BS5252 Colour Standard using greyness and reflectivity as key indicators. The resulting report gives simple graphic guidelines on appropriate colours for buildings, with these being measured against an international standard that is independent of any manufacturers specific colour ranges.
